Absolute encoders ensure a high level of accuracy

Rauch Spanplattenwerk (the Rauch chipboard factory) in Germany has been using automatic production equipment fitted with high-resolution optical absolute encoders supplied by Leine & Linde.

A Profibus multiturn absolute encoder from Leine & Linde guarantees that the chipboard rake is always in the correct position when stacking.

The Rauch chipboard factory was founded in 1959 in the German town of Markt Bibart in the region of Franconia. The company currently has about 170 employees and it produces more than 500,000 cubic metres of chipboard a year.

After several decades of developmental work in the company's own research laboratory, Rauch is now able to produce chipboard with an extremely smooth and level surface.

A satisfied customer
Rainer Meier, the chief electrician on the end-finishing line at Rauch, has to deal with the extremely tough conditions in Rauch's production environment every day. As a result, he has a very real appreciation of the ability of the encoders to withstand the ever-present wood dust and vibrations of the motors. Despite many years of continuous operation, there has not been a single fault on any of these encoders.

Rainer Meier also greatly appreciates the outstanding service and advice from Leine & Linde's sales engineers. As a result of this cooperation, Rauch has succeeded in building up a world-class chipboard production line.
